Chapter 2: The Emergence of a Global System of States


Upon hearing the decision, Iran mobilizes and begins sending troops to invade Israel. The UN's planned coalition (led by the US), including troops from France, the UK, Germany, and Australia and backed by 36 other nations, meets Iran and, with Israeli support, repels the invasion. Iran is forced to retreat and cease hostilities. The US retains international legitimacy, successfully backs Israel, and achieves a quick victory with its UN allies. Domestic support skyrockets. Iran avoids any nuclear actions due to the obvious danger of striking with a nuclear weapon when opposed by most of the world's primary nuclear powers. While it is unfortunate that conflict was not avoided, the conflict was handled effectively.
